Kubuntu 10.04 or Lucid Lynx is to be released on April 29th.
I have had it installed on my travel laptop, since beta 1 was released. With a couple of dist-upgrades since, it has performed flawlessly. Even for a beta release, stability has been great. Wireless mouse, network connections, external hard drives & digital cameras without an issue.
Most used applications:
- DigiKam to bring in photos from the digital camera.
- Amarok for listening to the music collection.
- Open Office for work on the road.
- Arora for web browsing
All the issues of KDE 4.0 and 4.1 are now a distant memory. KDE SC 4.4 is smooth and stable, visually attractive and easy to use.
This is a great release for anyone using a PC or laptop in a home setting, even those who have never tried a Linux distribution previously. I have nothing negative to say on what I have experienced so far.
Once Lucid Lynx is officially released, I will update my main work / software development PC from Karmic Koala.
